PODCASTING

So what is Podcasting??

First up, lets have a look at this video and it will give you an insight to the uses of Podcasting and its advantages.




Significance

A podcast is perhaps a series of audio and video digital media files which is widely distributed all over the internet by downloads, through portable media players and personal computers.

So what makes PODCASTING significantly different from other types digital media? Well, simply put, podcasting is uniquely different because of its ability to download and update new content...automatically. Often, the host or author of a podcast is often known as a podcaster.

History of Podcasting





The inventor

These two videos above demonstrates the particular time line of the podcast discovering periods. During this time period, Dave Winer deployed the first audio file via RSS, Stephen Downes demonstrated the first mp3 file aggregator, and traditional media started surfacing and got noticed.

Podcasting is still an upcoming digital media tool which is new and not many people including myself, truly understood the significance of podcasting. Therefore, after much research done, this video below which i have found illustrates on how you can create and effectively manage your podcast.



Lastly...

After viewing these various video clips on podcasting, so what are your inferences in the future of podcasting??

Perhaps, it is still too soon to comment on the limitations on podcast. Like any other media device, the sky is the limit for podcasting.

  1. Personally i liked the first clip very much. I thought that it was an easy and interesting clip to introduce what podcasting is.
    Although podcasting has been around for quite some time, i am not one who is up to date with the lastest technology, hence the clip about how to create podcast is good for people like me .
    I believe that this entry is help enable us to gain a better understanding of the history of pad casting since onli bits were mentioned in class.
